A fire destroyed the kitchen and caused extensive smoke damage at a central-city home last night.
Toledo firefighters responded to the fire at 1073 Prospect Ave. about 9:10 p.m. and had the fire under control in 10 minutes.
A teenage boy who lives in the home with his grandmother and two younger siblings was there when the fire started, fire Lt. Dennis Marzec said. The boy escaped the house unharmed.
Lieutenant Marzec said officials are investigating the cause of the fire, which resulted in about $20,000 damage.
