Three people were being held in the Wood County jail last night after they were caught with stolen items including purses, wallets, and credit cards at a Perrysburg Township hotel.
Authorities think the suspects also were involved in numerous thefts from vehicles throughout Lucas and Wood counties.
Christopher Lapoint, 35, of Whitehouse, was charged with drug abuse and drug paraphernalia. He is being held in lieu of a $3,250 bond. Angela Hadrian, 37, of Holland, Mich., is being held in lieu of a $3,500 bond on a receiving stolen property charge. Sarah Switzer, 30, of Findlay was being held in lieu of a $7,500 bond on the charges of forgery, drug abuse, and receiving stolen property.
They were arrested as they were getting into a pickup truck about 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Holiday Inn French Quarter in the township. The truck apparently was used in a theft from a vehicle at a Perrysburg restaurant about four hours earlier.
The truck was spotted at the hotel, and stolen property was found in the truck and the truck bed. The suspects used a stolen check to pay for a room, where police found additional property, such as items bought with stolen credit cards, township police Sgt. Mark Hetrick said.
Suspected cocaine and drug paraphernalia also were found in the motel room.
Authorities said the suspects are believed to have been involved in the thefts, including several Tuesday in South Toledo and Maumee. They think they found items belonging to at least several dozen theft victims in Toledo and other jurisdictions.
