B.G. apartment evacuated after nearby blaze

BOWLING GREEN - An apartment building here with about 10 units was evacuated yesterday when a fire started in an adjacent commercial structure.

No one was hurt in the blaze, which started just after 4 p.m. at 130 East Washington St. Bowling Green police refused to say how many people were evacuated from the apartment complex.

Bowling Green Fire Department Lt. Bill Moorman said there was extensive damage to the ground floor of the two-story structure, which holds McKenzie Builders and Developers and a law office.

One apartment in the adjacent building sustained slight smoke damage, Lieutenant Moorman said.

Firefighters did not know the cause of the blaze or an estimate of the damage.
