Kenneth Hughes, who, with his brother, Donnie Hughes, is accused in the November shooting death of Kenneth Allen Young, was arraigned yesterday in Lucas County Common Pleas Court.
Kenneth Hughes, 37, of 240 21st St., Apt. 701, pleaded not guilty to one count of complicity in the commission of murder. Judge Charles Doneghy scheduled a trial for May 3 and kept the defendant s bond at $300,000. He is being held in the Lucas County jail.
He and Donnie Hughes, 42, of 311 Rockingham St. are accused in the Nov. 17 shooting death of Young, 23, of 1915 Walnut St. He was shot in the head and the chest as he sat in a car parked in a driveway at 325 Rockingham.
Police said the victim, Donnie Hughes, and others had argued earlier in the day. Kenneth Hughes was not involved in the argument.
Officers said the Hughes brothers approached Young s vehicle. Both had handguns and had a conversation with Young, and Donnie Hughes then shot Young, causing his death, authorities said.
Donnie Hughes, who is charged with murder, is scheduled to go on trial April 19.
