Job candidate punches gas station attendant

LIMA, Ohio — Allen County sheriff's deputies are investigating an unusual assault in which the assailant posed as a job candidate and pummeled the attendant at the Swifty gas station on Elida Road.

Deputies and American Township police were called to the station about 6:30 p.m. Tuesday by employee Mike Taylor. Mr. Taylor, 20, said he had been talking with a man who inquired about a job application when the man left, then returned 10 minutes later, and struck him three times.

The assailant, whom Mr. Taylor did not know, then fled on foot. Paramedics treated Mr. Taylor at the scene.
