Boxed skull discovered in West Toledo attic

A West Toledo family made an unusual find recently when it was cleaning out the attic of their new house: a box marked "Skull-Herman." Inside was what appeared to be a human skull.

Police were sent Friday to 3801 Seckinger Drive on a report of suspicious found property. Debbie Torres told police the family moved into the house about a month ago. She said her husband was cleaning out the attic when he found the box.

Police contacted the Lucas County coroner's office, which removed the skull. Forensic anthropologists based in the coroner's office are to examine the skull.

Ms. Torres could not be reached for comment yesterday.
