Authorities are searching for two men who carjacked a vehicle in Monroe County early yesterday and fled to Toledo, where they abandoned the vehicle and eluded police.
The suspects approached a man in his Monroe Township driveway about 2 a.m., brandished a handgun, and demanded the man's vehicle, deputies said. Authorities did not identify the victim.
Monroe police officers saw the vehicle heading south on Telegraph Road and began chasing it. They were joined by officers from Erie Township and, as the vehicle entered Toledo, by Toledo police.
Attempts to stop the vehicle failed, and police lost the vehicle near Lewis and Sylvania avenues about 2:30 a.m. Authorities said the vehicle was later found in the neighborhood.
