A 16-year-old Curtice girl has been charged with delinquency in connection with vehicular homicide and vehicular manslaughter as a result of an accident in August that killed a 39-year-old Oregon woman.
Authorities said Milita Maier of 446 South Howard Rd. admitted to traveling over the speed limit, was trying to make a quick lane change, and lost control of her car when the accident occurred about 7 p.m. Aug. 21 in the 4600 block of Navarre Avenue.
She struck the right rear corner of a vehicle driven by Christopher Simpkins, 43, of Genoa. His passenger, Patricia Bleim, of 3525 Navarre, was thrown from the vehicle when it spun and began to roll. Ms. Bleim was pronounced dead at the scene; Mr. Simpkins was treated at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center.
Ms. Maier is scheduled for arraignment Oct. 22, authorities said.
