Domestic violence sweep leads to almost 50 arrests

Nearly 50 people were arrested during a countywide domestic violence roundup that concluded yesterday.

Lucas County sheriff's deputies picked up 40 of 67 people wanted for domestic violence and related crimes, such as stalking, assault, and menacing. Toledo police arrested nine people, authorities said.

The seventh annual sweep, which also involved at least seven other law enforcement agencies, began about 7 p.m. Tuesday and ended yesterday morning. It was held in conjunction with Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
