Authorities probe armed robbery of Monroe pharmacy

Authorities are investigating the armed robbery of drugs and money from the Yinger Pharmacy Shoppe, 1036 North Monroe St., in Monroe.

Employees and customers were held at gunpoint about 6 p.m. Friday while two men took a large amount of controlled substances and an undetermined amount of cash, the Monroe County Sheriff's Department said.

The men, one of whom was brandishing a handgun, fled on foot and headed southeast from the pharmacy. None of the employees or patrons was injured.

The suspects were described as white males. One of the robbers was 6-foot-1, about 150 pounds, and wore a dark sweatshirt, ski mask, and black gloves.

The other suspect was about 5 feet, 8 inches, medium build, and wore a black zip-up sweatshirt.
