Toledo man held in Point Place bank heist

A Toledo man was pulled over driving a car on Telegraph Road yesterday as he entered Ohio from Monroe County and charged in a holdup a day earlier of a Point Place branch bank.

Chris Johnoff, 49, of 3528 Twining St., was charged with bank robbery. He is in the Lucas County jail.

Mr. Johnoff was considered a suspect soon after Saturday s holdup of the Charter One Bank branch at 5150 North Summit St., Detective Greg Smith said.

Monroe County sheriff s deputies located Mr. Johnoff in Monroe County after the robbery, then alerted Toledo police.

Deputies contacted Toledo police when Mr. Johnoff headed toward Toledo about 9:40 a.m. yesterday. Deputies pulled over the vehicle on Telegraph at State Line Road.
