Cygnet man to enter plea in slaying of girlfriend

BOWLING GREEN - A Wood County man charged in the fatal stabbing of his estranged girlfriend is scheduled to enter a plea Wednesday to a bill of information charging him with aggravated murder.

Mark Stephenson, 47, of Cygnet, Ohio, is to appear before Wood County Common Pleas Court Judge Reeve Kelsey.

Stephenson has been held in the Wood County jail since Sept. 29, when Sandra K. Smith, 48, of Pemberville, Ohio, was stabbed in the neck and chest inside her car, which was parked outside Stephenson's mother's home on State Rt. 25 south of Portage, Ohio.
