FREMONT - A Fremont man has been charged in connection with a drug investigation that resulted in a vehicular chase on city streets.
Juan Ortiz, 23, appeared yesterday in Sandusky County Court in Clyde, where bond was set at $35,000. He was charged with possession of cocaine, felony fleeing and eluding police, and tampering with evidence.
Sandusky County sheriff's deputies were conducting surveillance Wednesday afternoon on a home in Green Creek Township when they saw a man leave the house and get into a car.
When they tried to stop the vehicle, the driver sped off.
Deputies pursued the car northbound on Finefrock Road at speeds of more than 80 mph. The driver continued westbound on State Street and was cornered by deputies, Fremont police, and Ohio Highway Patrol troopers in a parking lot.
