DEFIANCE - A 22-year-old Defiance County man charged with raping a 12-year-old girl a few days before Christmas and again in January is to be returned to the county this month from Texas where he was arrested.
Jerry D. Kilpatrick was being held last night in the Montague County jail, which is 80 miles north of Fort Worth.
He was arrested March 1 in St. Jo, Texas, on a warrant for rape from Defiance County.
Three days later, he was indicted by the Defiance County grand jury for two counts of rape.
The Defiance County sheriff's office will send deputies to Texas to pick up Mr. Kilpatrick.
The girl, who knew her attacker, was raped at the suspect's home on Dec. 21, according to a sheriff's report.
She was raped again in January, according to the indictment.
