A spaghetti dinner and silent auction to benefit the Rose Reder Memorial Scholarship Fund will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. today in the Toledo Police Patrolman's Association hall, 1947 Franklin Ave.
The event is sponsored by the Toledo Police Command Officers' Association, which the last seven years has awarded $49,000 in scholarships to 26 high school seniors in memory of Sergeant Reder. The scholarships are awarded each January during the command officers' annual installation and recognition dinner.
Sergeant Reder, the first woman to be a command officer in the Toledo Police Department, died Nov. 4, 1997.
