A registered sex offender in Lucas County was charged yesterday with raping a 69-year-old woman in her near-downtown Toledo apartment.
Police issued arrest warrants charging Edward P. Hebert, 49, who has no permanent address, with two counts of rape and one count of aggravated burglary. He was not in custody last night. The sexually oriented offender was paroled in December, authorities said.
Police said he followed the woman to her apartment in the 100 block of South Summit Street, a complex where he once lived, Sunday night.
She let him in, and he sexually assaulted her between Sunday night and early Monday morning, police said.
Hebert is described as white; 6 feet, 3 inches tall, 235 pounds with red hair, blue eyes, and a tattoo on his arm.
