A Start High School cheerleader who graduated two weeks ago was shot down by her ex-boyfriend at a home on Heathshire Drive before he committed suicide at his residence today, police said.
Shynerra Marie Grant, 17, was shot and killed at the home of a friend at 320 Heathshire about 2 a.m., police said. Antonio Bryant Rogers, 18, followed her into the home and shot her, according to authorities.
Miss Grant died at the scene. Authorities said Grant fled the house and returned to his home at 1735 Oakwood Ave., where he died apparently from a self-inflicted gunshot.
Police are continuing their investigation of the murder-suicide today.
It's the city's second murder-suicide in three days. Police said Archie Cox, 45, of Washington Township, shot and killed his estranged wife Susan Cox, 43, of Washington Township, and co-worker Shantel Hendrix, 27, of Bedford Township, at Barney's Convenience Mart in North Toledo on Friday. Both women worked at the convenience store.
