Adrian man arraigned on home invasion charge

ADRIAN An Adrian man was arraigned in Lenawee County District Court yesterday morning on a home invasion charge that involved an armed struggle with a homeowner and a subsequent chase.

Arnold Baxter, 26, was in the county jail last night. Bond was set at $100,000.

Percy Williamson, 27, of Parr Highway in Madison Township discovered a man in the garage of his home about 10:30 p.m. Saturday when he and his girlfriend, Jessica Moorehead of Adrian, and her brother, Joshua Moorehead, also of Adrian, stopped to pick up some items. Mr. Williamson, who entered the house with Mr. Moorehead after Ms. Moorehead allegedly discovered the intruder inside, armed himself with a knife, but the man surprised him, knocked him down, and fled on foot, sheriff s deputies said.

Mr. Baxter was later found hiding in a garden shed behind a nearby home, where he was arrested, deputies said. Mr. Baxter was charged with second degree home invasion.
