Swan Creek case ruled an accidental drowning

The death Saturday of William Reed, 67, who was pulled from Swan Creek after falling into the stream, was accidental due to drowning, according to a preliminary ruling by Dr. Cynthia Beisser, Lucas County deputy coroner.

Police said the Toledo man was heard calling out for help late Saturday afternoon after he left a group of friends and walked to his car parked along side a steep bank next to the creek at a small trucking business near Campbell and North Hawley streets.

His body was recovered by the Toledo fire department s dive and rescue team about 8:30 p.m. Saturday.
