Richfield Township landscape firm damaged in fire

A fire last night damaged the rear shop of a landscaping business at 13582 Sylvania-Metamora Rd. in Lucas County's Richfield Township, authorities said.

The fire started just before 6:30 p.m. and filled the Nil Gallagher Inc. building with smoke, but the blaze was contained to the back warehouse area, Lucas County sheriff's Sgt. Tim Myers said.

Damage estimates were not available last night.

Sylvania-Metamora Road was closed two blocks in both directions until 8 p.m. while fire crews from Richfield Township and Berkey handled the situation.

The fire doesn't look suspicious and investigators are checking to see if a vehicle in the shop had anything to do with the fire, Sergeant Myers said.
