2 Monroe men arraigned in party store robbery

MONROE Two men were arraigned yesterday in Monroe County 1st District Court on charges they robbed a LaPlaisance Road party store Monday afternoon, Monroe County sheriff s deputies said.

Deputies said one of the two entered the Erie Party Shoppe & Docks Party Store, 6838 LaPlaisance, about 3:10 p.m. Monday, wearing a ski mask and carrying a handgun, and demanded money from the clerk inside.

The subject left the store and fled in a full-sized black van, which was stopped about 10 minutes later by a Michigan State Police trooper on South Dixie Highway in Monroe Township, when both men were taken into custody, Sheriff s Sgt. Brian Angerer said.

The two suspects, Johnnie Ray, 40, and Nathan Stovall, 32, both of Monroe, were each being held in the Monroe County jail in lieu of $500,000 bond.
