ADRIAN - Bond for the former Tecumseh High School track coach charged with sex-related and other offenses involving parties with students, along with an alleged assault, has been reduced from $2.2 million to $760,000 by a Lenawee County District Court judge.
Meanwhile, Matthew Peterson, 33, of Tecumseh pleaded guilty to violating his initial bond condition after he broke into his home Dec. 14 in an attempt at contacting his estranged wife. His 30-day sentence was credited to time already served.
A second bond violation, alleging that Mr. Peterson asked his mother to contact his wife while he was in jail, was dropped by court officials.
Mr. Peterson has been charged with three criminal sexual conduct offenses and an assault charge after he allegedly raped a woman on Nov. 19 and Dec. 5.
He also has been charged with 32 offenses related to a series of parties for Tecumseh students he allegedly held at his house in 2003, while he was track coach.
His contract was not renewed at the end of the 2002-03 school year after the allegations surfaced.
A court date of March 1 has been set for the assault charges. No court appearance has been scheduled for the other charges.
