Toledo man arraigned, charged in bar shooting

A man charged in the shooting death on Saturday of a Toledo man outside a north end bar was being held in the Lucas County jail last night after arraignment in Toledo Municipal Court.

Micah Holmes, 24, of 525 Everett St., was being held in lieu of $250,000 bond on a voluntary manslaughter charge. He is accused of shooting Hiram J. Beasley, 27, of 503 Clark St. in the chest outside The Knight Cap Inn, 3302 Buckeye St.

Court records indicate the two men began struggling during an altercation at Buckeye and Clay Street. Mr. Holmes claimed the victim had a handgun in his waistband. The two began struggling with the gun. Mr. Holmes gained control of the gun, and the victim was shot. Mr. Holmes admitted to his actions, according to the court records.

Police were called to 3304 Beaumont Drive, just after 2 a.m., and found the victim unresponsive with a gunshot wound in the chest. Police said he ran to the address and began knocking on the door, asking for help. He was pronounced dead at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center.
