Toledo man shot in back in alleged drug deal

A Toledo man was shot in the back as he drove away from a south end intersection where he went to buy drugs, but didn t have any money, police said.

Joshua Shiffler, 27, was treated at Medical University of Ohio Medical Center.

Mr. Shiffler told police he went to Orchard Street and Pleasant Place about 11 p.m. Sunday to buy some drugs. When he arrived, a man told him to pull over at the corner. Mr. Shiffler then told him he didn t have any money, police said.

Two other men approached his vehicle and one of them shot him when he began to drive off. Mr. Shiffler fled and was treated by fire personnel at his home on Broadway.

Police found broken glass from Mr. Shiffler s vehicle in front of 560 Orchard. While there, Joel Sharbonneau, 35, told police his vehicle was shot at Orchard and Pleasant.
