MILAN, Mich. A Romulus, Mich., woman s arm was severed in a mysterious incident during the weekend, and authorities are still looking for her missing limb.
Brenda Humphrey, 34, was in fair condition yesterday in St. Joseph Mercy Hospital, Ypsilanti, Mich.
Monroe County sheriff s Lt. Dale Malone said he and other deputies spent hours looking for the woman s arm in the Cone Road area after the incident was reported about 1 a.m. Sunday. They were unable to find it.
Stephen Humphrey, 39, told deputies he and his wife had been at a bar in Milan. After leaving, Mrs. Humphrey got out of their truck a few miles from the bar, and Mr. Humphrey drove away. When he returned, he found her in a ditch missing an arm, he told authorities.
Both were intoxicated, Lieutenant Malone said. We re still not sure what happened.
No charges have been filed. Deputies have the Humphreys truck, which had blood on the passenger side s exterior but no dents.
