FOSTORIA A Seneca County grand jury has indicted the new police chief of Fostoria on two felony counts of tampering with records and two misdemeanor charges of falsification, officials said today.

John McGuire is accused of misrepresenting his credentials when applying for the police chief s position earlier this year. Mr. McGuire took the Fostoria position after working as a police officer for the Cleveland Public Schools.

Each felony count carries a potential prison term of one to five years and a $10,000 fine. Conviction on the misdemeanors carries a maximum sentence of six months in jail and a $1,000 fine.

His attorney, Dean Henry, said the police chief will plead not guilty.
