An Oregon man accused of striking a member of the Owens Community College golf team in the head with a golf club yesterday was arraigned on a charge of felonious assault this afternoon in Perrysburg Municipal Court.
Shawn Bryan, 21, of 2322 Taft St., was ordered held in the Wood County jail in lieu of $65,000 bond. Mr. Bryan, who appeared by video arraignment from the county jail, will have a pre-trial hearing on Oct. 26 at municipal court.
Mr. Bryan is accused of striking Jay Dalgarn, 19, of Pataskala, Ohio, a suburb of Columbus, in the head with a three-iron during an altercation about 7 p.m. in the parking lot outside the victim's residence in the 100 block of Maple Street.
Mr. Dalgarn was admitted to the neurology intensive care unit at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center following the incident. Mr. Bryan fled the scene, but was arrested a short time later at a gas station in East Toledo.
Rossford police said Mr. Bryan injured his head by banging it against the jail cell at the police station where he was being held. He was treated at St. Charles Mercy Hospital, then booked into the county jail. Mr. Bryan was also arraigned on an unrelated vandalism charge.
