Michigan man charged after gas station robbery


A Michigan man was arrested yesterday about 20 minutes after he robbed a gas station on Buck Road and fled in a clerk s car, Rossford police said.

Daran Gene Stephenson, 27, of Erie, Mich., appeared in Perrysburg Municipal Court on aggravated robbery and grand theft-auto charges. His case was continued until Thursday. He is being held in the Wood County jail in lieu of $85,000 bond.

A man with a gun walked into the Shell/True North gas station at 1000 Buck about 1:20 a.m., was given an undisclosed amount of money, and then ordered the clerk to give him her car keys, police said.

He fled in her car but was arrested after Rossford police Officer Greg Linkous stopped the vehicle within a mile of the crime scene, police said.
