Suspect sought in North Toledo rape case

Toledo police are looking for a 38-year-old man in connection with a rape late Monday in North Toledo.

Sgt. Sam Harris said the department has issued an arrest warrant for Lawrence Anderson, whose last known address was the Cherry Street Mission homeless shelter.

Sergeant Harris said Anderson, who is a registered sex offender, is wanted on charges of rape, kidnapping, and felonious assault in connection with the attack on a 35-year-old Toledo woman about 11 p.m. in the 2500 block of Walnut St.

The woman, described as an estranged girlfriend of Anderson, was assaulted with a blunt object, breaking her arm. She was then dragged into an alley, where she was raped, police said.
