Ms. Beebe was stabbed, possibly with a screwdriver, about 12:30 a.m. while she and Mr. McPherson were in her vehicle, sheriff s deputies said.
She said she was able to flee to a nearby home, and the person who answered the door called 911, sheriff s Lt. Bobby Leist said.
Deputies found Mr. McPherson at his home, where they discovered bloody clothes in his bedroom. He told deputies Ms. Beebe assaulted him and he was defending himself.
