MONROE - A rollover crash on I-75 near here early Sunday morning that killed a Monroe woman remained under investigation yesterday, the county sheriff's office reported.
Sonja S. Goins, 41, was ejected from her sport-utility vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene from injuries she suffered in the crash. The crash occurred at approximately 4:30 a.m. in Monroe County's Frenchtown Township.
Mrs. Goins was driving a 1998 Ford Expedition northbound on I-75 when the vehicle, for unknown reasons, went off the east side of the roadway near the entrance ramp from North Dixie Highway, sheriff's deputies said. The vehicle then became airborne and rolled several times before coming to rest upside down about 90 feet east of the entrance ramp.
Mrs. Goins was not wearing a seat belt, deputies said.
