3 chase, catch city man accused of wallet theft

A 32-year-old man was chased down by three people in East Toledo yesterday after he was accused of walking into an elementary school and stealing a staff member s wallet, police said.

Moses White, Jr. of 1109 Broer St. was being held in the Lucas County jail on a felony theft charge.

He is accused of entering East Side Central Elementary School, 815 Navarre Ave., about 9 a.m. and grabbing the wallet of Susan Augustyniak. When she confronted the suspect, he fled, police said.

Kevin Depew of 619 Berry St., Bryan Cutcher of 730 East Broadway, and Andres Salado of 1018 Forsythe St. chased Mr. White after hearing Ms. Augustyniak yell for help. They caught him in the 700 block of Plymouth Street; officers found the wallet on him, police said.
