Homeowner claims man tried to break into house

A 45-year-old man was arrested yesterday at a home in the 2300 block of South Avenue after he was accused of breaking into the residence, police said.

Kevin Ray Sattler of 617 Congress St. remained in the Lucas County jail yesterday.

He was accused of breaking into 2336 South Ave. about 4:20 a.m.

He was confronted by the homeowner, Melvin Alexander, 37, who chased Mr. Sattler out of his home, caught him, and held him for officers.

Police also charged Mr. Sattler with two counts of receiving stolen property after interviewing him and recovering items they believe were taken in burglaries at 1921 Bonfield Drive and 361 South Detroit Ave., authorities said.
