Toledoan shot while talking to his cousin

A 23-year-old Toledo man was shot in the leg while talking with a relative in the 3100 block of Cherry Street, police said.

Hakeem Hunt of 3114 Cambridge Drive told police he was on the steps of a residence talking with his cousin and his cousin's girlfriend about 10 p.m. Tuesday when he heard someone yell and then a gunshot. Mr. Hunt said he looked down and noticed he had been shot in the leg.

Mr. Hunt said he started walking to St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center until someone gave him a ride to the hospital. A hospital spokesman said she didn't have any information on Mr. Hunt yesterday.
