PORT CLINTON Personnel from area law-enforcement agencies will be participating in a drunken-driving checkpoint tonight and tomorrow morning in Ottawa County.

The checkpoint will run from 11 tonight until 1 a.m. tomorrow in the Clay Township and Genoa area, said Capt. Stephen Levorchick, of the Ottawa County Sheriff s Office. Saturation patrols will be stationed nearby until 2 a.m. to aggressively combat alcohol-related injuries and fatal crashes.

The captain said the low-manpower checkpoint is intended to deter unsafe driving, educate drivers on the danger of impaired driving, and enforce traffic laws.
