FOSTORIA Police this week took a saliva sample from a Hancock County jail inmate they believe is a suspect in a 1996 rape case.
The 47-year-old man, who is being held on unrelated charges, was named in June, 1996, as a suspect by the then-17-year-old victim, but police said they were unable to locate him at the time and the case remained unsolved.
Last month, police learned he was in the county jail in Findlay and obtained a search warrant for his saliva, which would provide a DNA sample.
