Police chase semi cab, arrest father and son
BOWLING GREEN A father and son were in the Wood County jail yesterday after leading authorities on a 20-mile pursuit in a semi tractor as the father, described as suicidal, vowed to ram any police cruiser that got in his way and said he would not be taken alive, authorities said.
Daniel Bixler, 46, of North Baltimore, Ohio, was charged with three counts of aggravated menacing, two counts of felonious assault, and one count of failure to comply with an order or signal of a police officer. Nathaniel Bixler, 19, from near Fostoria, was charged with complicity to felonious assault and unauthorized use of a vehicle.
Both are to appear today in Bowling Green Municipal Court.
Daniel Bixler is accused of leading Wood County sheriff s deputies and officers from the West Millgrove, Fostoria, and Tiffin police departments on a chase shortly after 1 a.m. Saturday.
The pursuit started after a complaint of an assault with a knife in a North Baltimore apartment complex. It ended when authorities shot out the semi s tires with a shotgun just south of Tiffin at State Rt. 53 and U.S. 224, authorities said.
