Man arraigned after altercation outside North Toledo bar

A North Toledo man accused of hitting a man with a car and fleeing the scene after an altercation with a woman behind a downtown Toledo bar was arraigned yesterday in Toledo Municipal Court, authorities said.

James Lemons, 42, of 5311 North Detroit Ave., was charged with aggravated vehicular assault. He was being held in the Lucas County jail in lieu of a $50,000 bond.

The victim, Christopher Little, 42, was in St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center in serious condition, a hospital spokesman said.

Mr. Lemons was involved in an altercation with a woman behind the Rip Cord bar, 115 North Erie St., about 2:15 a.m. yesterday when Mr. Little and several others tried to break it up, police said.

Mr. Lemons is accused of getting into his car, spinning his tires several times, and then driving toward Mr. Little, striking him with the car, police said.
