Toledo police auction nets $90,875 for fund

Toledo police sold 82 abandoned and forfeited vehicles at an auction yesterday, raising $90,875.

The auction was held at the police impound lot, 198 Dura Ave., and drew 259 registered bidders, officers said.

The sale of nine forfeited vehicles brought in $14,600 for the police department s law enforcement trust fund.

The highest-priced vehicle was a 1984 Buick Regal Grand National that sold for $5,250. The oldest abandoned car sold was a 1971 Chevrolet Monte Carlo, which brought in $3,200.

Yesterday s auction was the city s third for 2008. The next auction is scheduled for Sept. 27.
