An East Toledo man charged with rape and kidnapping for assaults on three women yesterday pleaded not guilty to the charges in Lucas County Common Pleas Court.
Scott Tristan, 22, of 1679 Tracy Rd. was charged with two counts each of rape and kidnapping and one count of attempt to commit kidnapping. If convicted, he faces up to 48 years in prison.
Mr. Tristan is accused of forcing women into his vehicle at gunpoint and coercing them to perform sexual acts.
The charges stem from incidents on July 1, July 22, and July 29. All three victims were walking alone when the assailant approached them, authorities said.
Mr. Tristan was arrested July 29 when he allegedly attempted to abduct a woman, who ran to a nearby house for help and called 911. A witness obtained Mr. Tristan s license plate number and gave it to police.
Judge James Jensen continued Mr. Tristan s $350,000 bond yesterday and set a Sept. 29 trial date.
