Beaverdam child dies, was beaten

LIMA, Ohio -- A 3-year-old boy who was severely beaten late last month has died from his injuries, authorities said yesterday.

Christopher Faulk died about 10:45 a.m. Tuesday at Nationwide Children's Hospital, Columbus, where he was taken Sept. 29 after emergency responders found him unresponsive in a Beaverdam, Ohio, home where he and his mother were staying.

Jacob D. Jones, 29, who lived at the house, is being held in the Allen County jail on a felonious assault charge.

Sheriff Dan Beck said yesterday that the case would be presented to a grand jury - possibly for more serious charges.

He said investigators were awaiting the results of an autopsy conducted yesterday by the Franklin County Coroner's Office.

"If the facts support additional charges, they will be filed after the autopsy is made public," Sheriff Beck said.
