Human remains found in rubble of Hardin County fire

KENTON - A landowner going through the rubble at the scene of a fire that destroyed a vacant house Monday in southeast Hardin County found what appeared to be human remains, the sheriff s office said.

The discovery was made in daylight hours Monday in the 1400 block of Roundhead Township Road 55 near Hardin County Road 150, sheriff s deputies said.

The house fire was reported at 12:27 a.m. and was extinguished about 2:30 a.m. by area fire crews, deputies said.

The cause of the fire was under investigation. Sheriff s deputies released no further details as of 9 a.m. Tuesday.

The incident occurred about 12 miles southeast of Kenton, which is about 70 miles south of Toledo.
