BOWLING GREEN — Six Toledoans suspected in a counterfeit-check scam were arrested Thursday by Wood County authorities working with the U.S. Marshal’s Fugitive Task Force.
Sabrina Pritchett, 36; Donnell Johnson, 35; Steven Weaver, 35; Elizabeth Gatton, 20; Feymon Walker, 45, and Carrie Darrington, 35, were indicted by a Wood County grand jury last week on charges of engaging in a pattern of corrupt activity. They are being held in the Wood County jail pending arraignment before Common Pleas Judge Robert Pollex on Tuesday.
Wood County Prosecutor Paul Dobson said the individuals allegedly went to various retail operations and used counterfeit checks to purchase thousands of dollars’ worth of items for resale. He said four other suspects in the case have been issued summonses to appear in court. Perrysburg city and township police assisted in making the arrests, Mr. Dobson said, because that’s where most of the Wood County victims were.
