A Holland, Ohio, man was seriously injured early Saturday morning when he was thrown from his motorcycle after crashing into a patrol cruiser and another vehicle, according to a release from the Toledo post of the Ohio Highway Patrol.
Rex Mahlman, 47, was taken to University of Toledo Medical Center; his condition was unavailable.
Mr. Mahlman was driving a 2006 Yamaha motorcycle south on McCord Road at 12:19 a.m. Saturday when he crashed into the stopped patrol car of Lt. John Altman and a Dodge Charger the trooper had pulled over.
Mr. Mahlman, who was not wearing a helmet, was thrown from his motorcycle and sustained serious injuries, according to the patrol.
The patrol car had its overhead lights turned on during the traffic stop, Lieutenant Altman reported.
The trooper was not injured, and neither were Albert Riley, 59, of Holland, Ohio, driver of pulled-over vehicle, and Gina Girlie, 41, of Temperance, Mich., Mr. Riley’s passenger.
All vehicles were towed because of disabling damage. Mccord Road was shut down for almost an hour while police investigated.
No charges have been filed. The crash is under investigation.
