Man killed by Lenawee County sheriff’s deputy identified
ADRIAN, Mich. -- Authorities Thursday morning identified Brian Keith Arnett, 30, of Rollin Township, as the man who was shot and killed by a Lenawee County Sheriff’s deputy after he reportedly lunged at the officer with a knife.
Two circuit court probation agents went to check on the man about 3 p.m. Wednesday near Devils Lake in Woodstock Township after he failed to report to court, according to a sheriff’s office release.
A sheriff’s deputy assisted the agents while they made contact with the man. During the incident, the probationer lunged at the deputy with a knife. The deputy fired two shots, killing Mr. Arnett, the report indicates.
The name of the deputy was not being released pending further investigation.
Lenawee County Sheriff Jack Welsh has asked Michigan State Police to handle the incident. MSP authorities were at the scene Wednesday night.
Devils Lake is about 40 miles northwest of Toledo.
