Vacant Rossford home damaged from arson

A fire that damaged a vacant Rossford home early Friday — a second such incident in two consecutive nights —has been ruled an arson, authorities said.

“A neighbor saw a person running from the area after the fire started,” Rossford Fire Chief James Verbosky said.

Fire crews from Rossford, Perrysburg Township, and Northwood arrived about 2:03 a.m. at 207 Osborn St. and reported multiple fires on the first floor of the single-family house.

The blaze was extinguished before 5:30 a.m. but not before the house sustained heavy fire damage, according to the Rossford Fire Department. A damage estimate was unavailable.

The Commerce Division of State Fire Marshal is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to identification of those responsible.

A fire that destroyed a vacant Rossford home early Thursday morning at 223 Bacon St. has also been ruled arson, the chief said.
