A house fire of a yet unknown origin left a South Toledo family homeless yesterday, authorities said.
All occupants had escaped unhurt by the time fire crews arrived about 5:37 a.m. and found fire in a single-family house at 431 Hiett Ave. near South Avenue and Spencer Street, according to the Toledo fire department.
Firefighters brought the fire at the 1 1/2-story wood frame house under control by 6:16 a.m., a fire dispatcher said.
The cause of the fire was under investigation. The fire damage estimate was unavailable.
The Lucas County Auditor’s Web site lists Deborah Reitz as the owner of the house. It was built in 1912.
