2 arrested after discovery of meth lab in Hillsdale, Mich.
HILLSDALE, Mich. — A local couple was arrested and a suspected methamphetamine laboratory was shutdown when authorities executed a search warrant in their Hillsdale apartment, the county sheriff’s department said.
Sheriff Stan Burchardt said Monday that sheriff’s deputies and members of the Clandestine Drug Lab Cleanup Unit searched 333 Village Green Blvd. at 2:40 a.m. Friday and discovered “an active laboratory used to produce methamphetamine.” Neighboring residents were evacuated for more than six hours while a cleanup team was brought in “to remove the highly volatile and hazardous chemicals and laboratory components.”
Arrested were Eric Hanning and Kara Dunn. Each faces charges of methamphetamine manufacture, operating and maintaining a methamphetamine laboratory near specified places, possession of methamphetamine, and operating and maintaining a drug house.
Both are in custody at the Hillsdale County Jail without bond, pending arraignment.
