Man, 33, arrested for stealing change from washers and dryers in Oregon
Oregon police arrested a man who, they say, broke into a Starr Avenue apartment complex and stole change from washers and dryers in a laundry facility.
Edmond Ballard, 33, of 5725 Silverside Dr., Toledo, is charged with one count each of breaking and entering and tampering with coin machines.
According to an Oregon police report, a suspect broke into the laundry facility at Oregon Arms Apartments, 2305 Starr Ave., at about 10:30 a.m. Monday.
The apartment complex owner, Louis Takacs, flagged down a police officer and told him that a suspect broke into the laundry room and shook and turned over eight washers and dryers, according to the report.
The suspect also ripped off pieces of the machines.
Mr. Ballard was arraigned in Oregon Municipal Court on Thursday. He is being held in the Lucas County jail in lieu of a $15,000 bond.
Early Thursday, Toledo police arrested Mr. Ballard and charged him with possessing drug paraphernalia, according to arrest records. Toledo Municipal Court records state Mr. Ballard allegedly had a crack pipe in a pants pocket.
He was released from the jail at about 5:50 a.m. Thursday on a federal court order.
He is scheduled for arraignment in Toledo on Friday.
