MONROE — Two Monroe schools were placed on lock-down Wednesday after a nearby bank was robbed.
Police said Bank of America, 602 S. Monroe St., was robbed about 10:30 a.m. by a man who handed a teller a note demanding money. He seemed unarmed and fled on foot with an undetermined amount of cash, authorities said.
Police describe the suspect as a white man in his late 20s to early 30s, about 6 feet tall, and about 160 pounds. He was last seen wearing a green jacket with a collar and blue stocking cap with ear flaps and white trim, police said.
Monroe Middle School and St. John the Baptist Elementary were put on lockdowns, authorities said. Anyone with information should call 734-243-7510.
